Pre-SULAM
1. Since our team already discussed doing this service learning in Kolej Allamanda community, I expect it will be going easy and smoothly according to our plan. This is because I know some of the college staff that might help us in this project.
2. This project does not involve any agency. So, our team needs to work hard to study pest management in the targeted community.
3. We choose to do termite infestation in Kolej Allamanda. Kolej Allamanda residents had faced this termite problem for the past ten years and this problem keeps increase by the year.
4. Since we are facing a pandemic covid-19, I afraid that it might difficult to do some discussion with the community adviser.
During-SULAM
1. Not everyone is aware of pests in their place. Some of them just take it easy this thing. So throughout this project, we learn how to educate the public. This is because if we a not prevent or care about this pest it will make a huge damage to the community.
2. We learn more about termites and how to manage them in a variety of ways. But in order to control and manage the pest in a community, every person needs to play their role. The main skill I learn from this project is team management. As a leader, we need to make sure all the member clear with the project objective and know their roles.
3. Pest management is very important to every community. Every year we will suffer losses if we keep this pest freely.
4. The most thing I develop through this project is leadership skills. Next, we need to be creative while spreading awareness.
5. Maybe I will use this experience to spread awareness to my community. Every community has its own problems. By quick survey and simple pest management plan could help them face this problem.
6. Through this project, we learn a lot about how to manage pests. It could help us create a better community with a better environment.
Post-SULAM
1. Most of the residents face this pest problem, but they don't have an idea on how to manage it. The college staff was very appreciated our work. It shows that they really want to solve this problem but they can't find the best solution for this problem. So, we as a student that study pest management should contribute to our community.
2. I think the strength of this project is we manage to spread awareness about termite infestation to the community and other people also. It should give an idea to them on how to manage this problem. But the weakness of this project is we can't really see the impact of our project on the community.
3. The first challenge we had faced during this serving learning is to communicate with the community. During pandemic COVID19 we must accept that face-to-face communication is not the best choice. We only had two session discussions with college staff to discuss how to manage this problem. The next challenge is to attract people. Since we spreading awareness, it is more effective if we can reach more people.
4. Everything went smoothly as planned but sometimes we need to remind each other about their work. We manage to do community survey on time, and spread awareness through media sosial and plan solution for the college as well.
5. For the Kolej Allamanda community we prepared a poster on how to manage termine in their place. It could help college resident to overcome this problem and know what to do. The new resident also can do early prevention on this problem. Maybe we cant see the result of this service learning project drastically but it will help the college management maintain their properties slowly.
6. Fron this project, I know that most of people are not aware about pest management. So we has a responsibility to help them counter and manage this pest problem.
7. Good management skill could help during this service learning. We need to plan, manage the progress and make sure all work are done on time.
8. I started like doing this sevibg learning project especially when we can help them solve their problem. I would like do something bigger than before with we can invite some artist and NGO join us.
