 Pre-SULAM

1. If I work directly with the community, I imagine that the community partner site will be all Kolej Allamanda residents and staff since our target community are people that living at Kolej Allamanda. Things will be easy and might be going smooth if we can interview directly with the residents to know how bad is the situation is when they are having problems with the termite’s infestation.
2. My personal perception of the agency that will work with us is likely to have better knowledge and experience in overcoming these termite problems. We may also be able to identify the best ways to address the problems faced by college residents. So, we need to choose the right agency to solve this problem.
3. I select the problem that I want to work with based on the significant problem of pests that is currently happening at Kolej Allamanda. Kolej Allamanda has been dealing with termites’ problems since years ago and it looks like there is no definite solution that will help them to fully control termite infestation at the college. Therefore, it is crucial to spread awareness to the residents so that the college can deal with this problem without further damage.
4. The fear I have, if we have to work with the community, is that I worried that our community does not want to work together in making this project a success. The main reason is, if the project is carried out face to face, we need to do an open interview with some college residents who are affected by this termite problem. we also need to take pictures in the area that possibly involving their room or toilet that are most likely get infested by termites. As this is their private area, we might not be allowed to take the photo.

During-SULAM

1. This experience helped me to better understand my responsibilities and roles as a citizen by making myself aware of the importance of having some awareness in solving the problem that is currently happening in our daily life especially regarding pest management. This can be seen through the termite infestation problem because if we choose to remain silent, this problem will get worse and lead to more damage. So, it is very important for us to learn how to deal with it and how to prevent this from getting worse.
2. Skills that I acquire through this experience are I became more confident to interact with people on social media and makes me more creative in designing poster or editing pictures that I need to post on social media. Having a unique and creative design for our post is important so that we can attract people to read the content on our page. And there are few pieces of knowledge that I gain through this e-SULAM activity especially something related to termites. I was able to understand how the infestation started and what makes it get worse over time. With a better understanding and knowledge, I can share this information with others using social media and always hope that people will gain information from our project.
3. This service-learning project help me better understand the idea or subject that I have been studying by showing me how I should interact with the community to gain information, feedback, and help to understand their problem. This project also gives a chance for me to contribute to my community by solving their real-life problem since I have never done somethings that related to community to achieve my objectives. I also gain more knowledge from this subject because I need to study more regarding some pest management issue in order to spread awareness to other people.
4. Two-character traits that I developed during this experience are artistic and generous. Since our group has created an Instagram account, we need to makes a few posts based on a different topic. So, in order to do the post, I need to create a poster or edit a photo to make sure that our information is spread in an interesting way. It also makes me more satisfied when our post looks interesting and has a lot of information. I also became more generous in sharing our information. I will try to promote the post using my personal account so that all my followers can see what I’m trying to share with the community.
5. Through this service-learning project, I learned how I should react to another situation that is happening right now. Using this experience, now I know what should I do in order to attract others so that they want to support and participate in our project. I also learned how to communicate with the community in the best way, so even though we are in a different situation later, I think I can manage to communicate with them face-to-face or virtually through WhatsApp.
6. This service-learning experience connects me to my long-term goals by helping me develop skills that help to teach and create awareness for other people. It also gave me more reason to learn, teach, and sharing my skills with others and develop responsibilities for me to help the community. Because without doing this project, I might never encounter new information regarding pest that I always ignored before this. The service-learning project also increased my motivation and improved my academic skill.

Post-SULAM

1. What I learn about the community is most of them are not really aware of the pest issue. And even if they know that there is a pest around them, for example, the termite’s infestation at their homes, the community tends to ignore this situation. Most of them won’t even try to seek help in solving this issue until the situation gets worst. Therefore, this service-learning project under animal pest management subject is really important to help the community to be aware of pests wherever they are.
2. The strength of the projects is we are able to spread awareness regarding the termite’s infestation issue to our community. Through this project, the community will realize how bad this issue can be if no further action is being made. We also help to give them tips on how to check if our house gets infested. However, there is still some weakness that we cannot avoid while doing this project. Due to pandemics, we need to do everything online including doing the survey and get evaluations from the college residents. It became harder for us to approach each of the respondents to ask directly whether this project be benefited them or not.
3. The challenges and problems our group face during the implementation of the service-learning are a lack of communication between us. It became harder because we cannot discuss most things face-to-face and only doing it virtually through WhatsApp and also Microsoft Teams. Some of us have problems with the internet connection, and limited time to discuss together since we are at different places. And during the discussion, not all things can be explained easily.
4. In my opinion, I think all the things turn out the way I anticipated. This is because our target community is small, which are Kolej Allamanda residents only. And using social media, we can connect with each of the community and post an informative infographic that will help the residents to handle the termite's infestation issue. Based on our previous survey, we found that most of the residents tend to ignore the damage caused by termites and did not make any report regarding the termites. So, I hope that after they see our Instagram post, the residents will be more aware and handling this issue correctly.
5. The impact of my project on the community is making them realize how bad is the real situation that is happening at Kolej Allamanda. Through this service-learning, our group has been helping them to detect their homes for termites and teach them how they should handle the issue. An evaluation form also has been spread for them to rate our project. Most of the respondents have given good feedback for our project.
6. The lesson that I learned through service learning is it teaches me about the importance of my role, as someone that wants to help create awareness for my community. The project makes this pest management subject more meaningful and important since we know that not all communities around us will think that pest management is important in daily life. This project also gives me the opportunity to look at their problem and concern and change the situation by looking for an answer together. 
7. Important skills that should we have in conducting a successful service-learning are leadership skills and communication skills. Leadership skills are important in managing the team. Having a good leader and having great leadership skills will lead to a successful project. Communication skills are also important. The ability to communicate effectively with the group members and community are essential no matter what kind our situation are right now.
8. If my group were given the task second time, I would like to conduct it the same way but with some improvement. Rather than doing this virtually through ws or Instagram only, I wish I can meet with the community so that we will understand more how this situation are affecting them. Maybe we can improve our project by creating a Page or group where people can share their problem in termites issue and seek for help so that way we can approach them directly.
